Questions
Good to know.
Which format should I choose?
WebP is usually the smallest and works in all modern browsers and most apps. JPG is the safest for photos you’ll send anywhere. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency but is larger.
What quality should I use?
75% looks the same as the original to most people and often cuts the size by more than half. Go lower for thumbnails, higher for prints.
Why is a PNG barely smaller?
PNG doesn’t lose quality, so the slider can’t shrink it much. Resize it, or save it as WebP or JPG for big savings (JPG turns transparent areas white).
Are my images uploaded?
No. They’re compressed by your browser on your device.
Is the photo’s location data kept?
No. Saving through the browser drops hidden photo data (EXIF) such as GPS location and camera details, which is good for privacy.
