Questions

Good to know.

How is WPM calculated?

By the standard definition, a “word” is 5 characters. Your score counts only correctly typed characters, divided by 5, per minute, so mistakes don’t inflate it.

What is a good typing speed?

About 40 WPM is average for adults. 60+ is fast, and many office jobs ask for 35–45 WPM with good accuracy.

Should I fix my mistakes?

You can use backspace. Fixing costs time, but leaving errors lowers your accuracy, as in a real job test.

Can I put my typing speed on my CV?

Yes, if the job values it (admin, data entry, customer support). Write it like “Typing: 55 WPM, 97% accuracy”, and only a score you can repeat.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, though phone keyboards are slower. For a fair score, use a physical keyboard.
